She tells him:

I love you like the wind does
the vertebra of a whale
washed up on a grey pebble lakeshore
in a thunderstorm.

He tells her:

There are no whales in lakes.

Like the last one, written quickly and with no great thought, but I like it.

My answer to your question is a tasteful suggestion for you to go do something anatomically impossible to yourself

No, no there aren't. However, romantic words don't need to make complete sense. XD; Very lovely.

Haha, fantastic. I hate those kinds of

"I love you!"
"I love...cake"

kind of moments.

I'm not sure it's so much a random response as it is the male of the two simply lacking the capacity to love an image for the image, even if it's not really consistent with reality. A collision of an abstract mind with a rational one, I suppose. It's something I come up against often and it fascinates me about as much as it frustrates me, so I just had to try to capture and share it.

I did realise that my quote (which is from That 70s Show by the way) did not actually fit as well as I thought, but I actually understood what you meant. I think the poem describes the meeting of the different mindsets extremely well.
